Tuesday, March 8 at 10 a.m. ET, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) will hold a full-committee hearing on worldwide threats. The heads of key Intelligence Community (IC) agencies will testify on the full range of threats to U.S. interests.

 

The hearing will focus on the potential threats posed by adversarial states like China, Russia, Iran and North Korea. The IC assesses that potential for conflict between these actors remains a critical threat to the United States and our allies. In addition, the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan remains a threat to U.S. interests, including the possibility of Afghanistan becoming a safe haven for terrorists.

 

Like in years past, the hearing will be broken up into open and closed sessions. For the open session, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines will present a short opening statement on behalf of the IC, followed by Member questions. The closed session is scheduled to begin at 1:30pm in the HPSCI hearing room.

 

HPSCI Ranking Member Mike Turner (OH-10) will give an opening statement at the beginning of the hearing and closing remarks the conclusion of the open session.
